KELOWNA - After an evacuation of some residents in the Glenmore area today, police say a dynamic and unfolding incident has ended peacefully.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of Silver Place shortly after 1:30 p.m. today, Feb. 20, for a report of a distraught 50-year-old man, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says in a news release.
He was believed to be armed and alone inside of a home. As a precaution, police evacuated residents in nearby homes, O'Donaghey says.
"A short time after those tactical evacuations began, the distraught male exited the home and was apprehended without any further incident,” says O’Donaghey.
The Kelowna RCMP Police and Crisis Team, a mobile unit that provides community-based crisis intervention, was called in to assist. The team is comprised of a specially trained RCMP officer and an Interior Health psychiatric nurse.
