MONTREAL - Oscar-nominated visual effects company Scanline VFX has announced it will open a new studio in Montreal next month.
The company announced Friday that it expects to hire 300 people over the next three years in visual effects, technical and support roles.
The Montreal facility will be be led by Geoffrey Baumann, who recently supervised all visual effects on Marvel's "Black Panther."
It will be the fifth facility for the German multinational, which is already present in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Munich and Stuggart.
Scanline VFX earned Academy Award nominations for its feature films "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and "Hereafter," a film directed by Clint Eastwood.
In a statement, Montreal International CEO Hubert Bolduc said that the arrival of Scanline VFX will "further enrich" the visual effects and animation network in the city.
