OLIVER - There has been a recent increase in theft from vehicles in Oliver and RCMP are on the lookout for a pair of suspects.
Oliver RCMP say In the majority of the reported thefts, the vehicles were left unlocked with valuables left in plain view or easily found by the suspects.
The suspects are believed to be a man and a woman, according to an RCMP media release. These suspects are simply opening door handles on vehicles and take whatever they can carry and have already stolen items of considerable value.
The suspects steal from unlocked vehicles likely because there is a low risk of being caught and it is a source of income, police say.
The public is reminded not to leave vehicles unlocked for any amount of time, or to leave something of value inside.
Often when police catch suspects of recent thefts the items found in their possession have no identifiable marks, or serial numbers that can be used to prove the items are stolen.
Police call upon the public to record any serial numbers or mark your property with something Oliver RCMP can use to have it returned to you.
